Dua Lipa Launches Major Hair Transformation on the Versace Runway
Today in Milan, Dua Lipa not only opened and closed the Versace fashion show like a real bombshell, but also ushered in a surprise hair transformation. Opening the show in an asymmetrical skirt with oversized rainbow safety pins and a single cutout along one hip for a belly flash, the pop superstar’s signature dark brown hair was considerably longer, falling to her waist as she rolled over. the bend of the track.
The extra length was designed by none other than hairstylist Guido Palau. “We emphasize that straightness that Donatella adores with some extensions to really exaggerate the girls,” explained Palau, who pulled Lipa’s elongated straight lengths in a taut style halfway up. “It’s really a classic hairstyle, but we try to make it extreme.”
Palau compared the silhouette to the enduring benchmark which is Catherine Deneuve’s signature mid-top style, but with a “more modern and futuristic” touch; the center panel of hair sculpted flat to the shape of the head, as opposed to a teased to voluminous effect. To obtain a smooth texture, Palau coats the lengths with Bumble and Bumble hairspray before ironing it flat one section at a time, then using a soft hair wax to tame flyaways. A single gold bar attached to the back completed the look.
Who better to showcase the latest version of Versace on timeless, va-va-voom hair than its official Gen Z muse? Remember: this is Dua’s World, and we all live in it!
