Friendly hairdressers repair botched “mule” after nurse’s Coco Couture disaster
Selfless hairdressers at a salon in Hessle gave a chemo patient new hair after she was devastated by botched extensions that cost her hundreds of pounds.
When breast cancer survivor Danielle Welbourne returned home from a hairdresser appointment in early December, she felt like crying.
The nurse, who had lost all of her hair to chemotherapy months earlier, had spent £ 300 on ombre hair extensions with Hull-based Coco Couture Hair Extensions and Beauty, not knowing that a Facebook group had been created to reveal terrible customer experiences.

Photos of the group reveal sloppy extensions from customers and poorly applied false eyelashes, while some were blocked by owners on Facebook when they went to complain.
But after spotting Danielle’s story on Hull Live, the owners of Hessle MA Hairdressing have reached out to offer to do it all again – for free.
The botched operation was half over as she had to return to Coco Couture for a top, but was so unhappy with the condition of her hair that she decided not to.
Instead, stylist Amy Varley spent two hours using a solution to dissolve the glue that had been used to glue Danielle’s extensions, leaving her in pain, and another two hours applying the new extensions.
“I am over the moon and feel like myself again,” she said.
“I cannot express my gratitude enough.”
Danielle, a nurse, was unable to tie her hair back after the mess it had remained in, leaving her worried about how she might go to work, requiring it to be tied back.
“MA contacted me just in time – they did everything before my next face-to-face meeting,” she added.
Coco Couture previously declined to comment on Danielle’s complaint, which was reported to Action Fraud for investigation.
