Text description provided by the architects. Hair, styling and color studio for award-winning colorist and stylist Sofia Geideby. A 220 square meter basement in Stockholm, once used as office space, has been stripped down to its original more than 100-year-old state, revealing beautiful concrete walls and an industrial steel structure. Our goal was to declutter the space and create a large open space, again making the four pillars the heroes of the main room.

The color scheme is a muted version of the three primary colors – yellow, blue and red. The entire space was painted in a creamy powder yellow hue. A muted backdrop adds to the colorful creations of Little Faktory. Painting the concrete and steel structure a creamy yellow color was one way to blend the new with the old – softening the raw concrete without losing its travertine texture.

Lightweight, freestanding additions in basic geometric shapes form the basis of the cutting stations and room divider. With one of the concrete walls, cutting stations are kept to a minimum, consisting of a wall-mounted floating side table, circular wall mirrors and square-shaped display shelves. The placement of the mirrors creates endless effects of color and shape, adding to the openness and playful feel of the studio. Along the back wall, three sets of bespoke double glazed doors reveal a color lab, VIP studio and office space.

For the photo studio, a Gustaf Westman mirror in custom colors was ordered. Neon designer Josefin Eklund was commissioned to illuminate the entrance staircase.
