Los Banos Police said several suspects were arrested in a series of break-ins dating back to April.

Officers served a search warrant at a residence in Block 100 on K Street on November 29, where they located one of the suspects, identified as Jose Ignacio Tapia, 29, of Los Banos, according to a statement from department press.

Detectives also located stolen property from the home and a stolen gun.

According to Cmdr. Ray Reyna, Tapia is suspected of being involved in seven burglaries, some of which occurred at commercial businesses and others at residential properties, and one of which took place on Tuesday morning.

Jesus Manuel Rodriguez, 40, of Los Banos, was also identified as a suspect and arrested. Police issued a second search warrant in the 100 block of West I Street on November 30 and arrested suspect Fidel Navarete, 51, after locating property stolen in a November 27 burglary at the inside his apartment, according to the message.

Detectives also located an illegal impact baton and 39 firearms in the residence. Police said four of the guns found were stolen and one was an assault weapon.

Police said the break-ins took place in several locations, including:

  • A residential property in the 700 block of Colorado Avenue that was reported in April.
  • A vehicle burglary in the 800 block of West Pacheco Avenue was reported in July.

Police say some of the businesses targeted include a hair salon, dance studio and antique store.

“We recognized that we had a series of break-ins and these types of crimes are of great concern to us,” Reyna said.

According to Reyna, the Detective Division of the Los Banos Police Department spent a lot of time and effort trying to identify a pattern in the break-ins.

“We did it because these types of cases are a priority for us and we are always concerned about public safety,” he said.

Tapia has been held in the Los Banos Police Department Prison on multiple counts of burglary, attempted burglary, conspiracy, robbery, criminal in possession of a gun and criminal in possession of ammunition, announced the police.
