Tony Awards 2022: Ariana DeBose Hair How-To
Chic and elegant! Ariana DeBose hit the red carpet for the 2022 Tony Awards on Sunday, June 12 with a glassy, side-swept pixie and her hairstylist Takisha Sturdivant-Drew let We in the secrets of style.
After all, it was a big night for DeBose. Not only the West Side Story The star of Broadway’s biggest night, she opened the show with an energetic mix of songs celebrating diversity and inclusivity.
While the duo got ready, Sturdivant-Drew and the 31-year-old LGBTQIA+ activist decided on a look that would complement her sequin dress. “Ariana’s Hugo Boss dress gave classic glamor with a sexy modern twist, so naturally I had to style her hair,” the hair pro told Us. She chose to do “an elegant and sexy hairstyle with a touch of color”.
After the actress washed her hair, Sturdivant-Drew spent a dollop of Tresemmé One Step Smooth Cream from roots to ends “to give hair brilliant shine, frizz control, softness, vibrant color and heat protection.”
Next, she added blonde clip-in hair extensions from her exclusive line, TSD Hair Extensions, before brushing. After preparing the locks with Tresemmé Keratin Smooth Thermoprotector SpraySturdivant-Drew used a hair dryer and comb to “smooth the hair nicely before using a flat iron to smooth it even more.”
How does a hairstyle last in humid New York weather, hot lights on the red carpet, and a song and dance routine? Sturdivant-Drew locked down the look with a spritz of Tresemmé Full Volume Hairspraythen stapled the small hairs at the back with a small brush and Tresemmé Tres Two Extra Hold Gel to “make sure there were no leaks,” she explains.
To complete the glam, DeBose chose sultry puffy neutral makeup, including smoky cat eyes and a gorgeous glossy nude-pink lip. Makeup artist Andrea Tiller used Lancome products to create the look. She used the mark 5 Color Eyeshadow Palette in Brun Adore, Liqui-Pencil Drama in Café Noir and The Absolute Lacquer in Infra-Rose.
